Used at Western Washington University in 2010. If you're fascinated by marketing, you'll probably like this book. If you think telemarketers are marketing professionals, you probably won't like this book. The case studies were interesting.

Purchasing Options for Global Marketing Textbook

Very up-to-date-textbook with real world scenarios. I wanted to purchase this book as an e-book. The great disappointment I have with this book is the publisher chose not to enable "text to speech". I also was about to purchase the Kindle Fire when I discovered the book did not have this feature. Why should I purchase the Kindle Fire or all new generations Kindle if the books I purchase do not have the "text to speech " feature enabled?

I bought this for an International Marketing course which actually required the 6th edition. Instead of paying $90+ for the newer version, I paid about ten dollars. The page numbers are different from the new version but the content is almost exactly the same. Most of the case studies in this book are the same as in the new version, but there are two are three in the 6th edition that aren't in this edition. I haven't had any troubles using this edition in place of the newer one. The book arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Glad I saved a ton of money without sacrificing quality or content.

I am a retired high school English teacher who just accepted a long term sub job in a kindergarten class. I taught kindergarten one year many ages ago - and I do mean ages! Cunningham's book is just what I needed to refresh my knowledge and gain ideas on presenting phonics in the most supportive and helpful way to kindergarten students. The book includes everything a kindergarten teacher could need: forms for assessment, instructional activities, and pictures of what these things look like in the classroom. Patricia Cunningham is a genius.

You can't reinvent the wheel. This book wasn't made for you to do that. If you have the gumption to be an entrepreneur, you have to know how to network your ideas, and products. Instead of going through the trial and error phase of success, mimic the ones who have already done it..
My mantra I've been going by is as long as I can think, I won't pick an axe for anyone else. This book tells you how to be a strategist to garner your success by telling you to read the ones who knew what they were doing. Entrepreneurship can be a daunting beast, but this book will be your sword and shield. Good job.

An Important Look At Airpower Theory Versus Real World Application

Great book which deconstructs some of the myths of airpower only strategies, particularly operation Odyssey Dawn--the Kosovo Air Campaign. Robert Gregory does a good job of explaining the necessity of ground forces for targeting in air campaigns and reshapes the coalition victory in Kosovo from one achieved through the air to one created by a combination of the threat of invasion and diplomatic efforts by the Russians.
He discusses in great detail the unfortunate--and wrong--lessons learned from Kosovo and how they had negative consequences for US policy makers and the US Army in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The last chapters of the book offer a fascinating look at the connected social media space that will shape not just strategic and operational concerns but even tactical ones in the future by showing how integral Twitter and other social media was during the Libya campaign. Reading about Libyans coordinating time on target fire missions and realtime air support via Twitter is fascinating, if a bit frightening.
Overall, Clean Bombs is an incredibly useful and important book whether you're a strategist in a think tank, a policy maker, or historian.

An impressive read for serious students of conflict and conquest.

The amount of research involved in putting this book together is indeed mind-boggling. There is so much revealed about the wars in Kosovo and Libya that a reviewer must be too selective to give justice to this comprehensive treatment. My strongest reaction was to the follies of General Wes Clark who's decisions are dissected with great precision and contempt. This makes one wonder how he ever got four stars in the first place? Or a little deeper, why the Army's general officer selection process produced such an inept bungler? W ithout questioning the valor or loyalty of any concerned, there was a lot of parochialism in the fight, from the White House to the foxhole. I'm still not sure how to describe air power or even fire power for that matter, mainly because there are so many interactive systems required to bring destruction to a target. I have the feeling that unmanned aerial systems (aka drones) are in their infancy and may even be the key to winning wars of the future or bringing tyrants to their knees. We seem to dominate this technology at the moments, but that can't last forever either. An
impressive read for serious students. His views on the limitation of airpower are worth the price of this remarkable book. In short, the effectiveness of precision bombing without some corresponding effort on the ground is often over-stated by air power advocates.

A mother and her daughter have been brutally attacked; the mother is dead and the daughter is barely alive. The father is found shaking uncontrollably in the corner of the room. He is covered in blood but he is unharmed. His name is Martin Willow.
Detective Sergeant Jason Smith is put in charge of the investigation. After reaching dead end after dead end, Smith starts to put the pieces together and figures out that Martin Willow is innocent and the killer is still out there.
The little girl who was attacked on Christmas Day wakes from her coma and gives Smith a clue about the attacker; a piece of a song she heard directly before the attack. Smith then finds himself in a race against time to find this maniac before he kills again.

Artfully woven tale set in Australia and UK and elsewhere. Lots of family secrets and layers. Great plot and characterizations. I will be reading more from this author.

Good Story

This was a good story and I enjoyed it. Smith and his partner work to solve several murders that may or may not be related. Something's wrong and he fears an innocent man may be convicted. While this is going on, Smith's past intrudes with an interesting side plot involving his sister. The writing and dialog were perhaps a bit stilted, but the most annoying thing was the utter lack of proofreading. Occasionally, there were words missing or transcribed incorrectly, apostrophes omitted from possessives and/or contractions, double quotes in the wrong place and facing the wrong direction. In spite of that, it was still a good read and I recommend it. I hope the author will proofread it properly and republish.

This book is divided in two parts. First part, Historical Lore, presents a history of the runes in a more realistic, scientific view using examples form archaeology to support certain hypothesis of how the runes where invented (examples of runic writing with explanations are found throughout the book especially in the first part). The first 5 chapters of the book are chronologically organised and present the rune evolution from the oldest findings to the most recent ones (modern age actually). Chapters 6, 7, 8 try to explain the utility of runes for the old norse (or for other civilisations who took the runes from the old Norse) and also give written examples which try to explain the runes. Especially useful are chapters 6 and 7, which try to explain the runes and the runic inscriptions. The second part, Hidden Lore, uses a philosophical and psychological approach to explain the runes. Chapter 9 is especially useful and probably the most important chapter within the book because here all the runes are explained in great detail (beginning with page 114 and ending with 141 is a very essence of the book). Chapters 10 is also useful because it shows the cosmological view of the Old Norse and the connection with the runes (24 pathways between the 9 worlds, 24 runes). Chapters 11, 12 display even more information about the runes and the way of thinking of the Old Norse. The last chapter, 13, has a nice description of the gods of the old Norse but this chapter lacks the great detail which is found in the other chapter (this last chapter give some helpful hints but is more like a conclusion of the book, the good ending).
This book is pretty good, and that's why I gave it 5 stars but in truth it deserved 4 stars because it lacks the really deep explanations of the Old Norse's way of thinking.

Advanced Runic Ideas!

Well, I figured there would be enough people out there talking up the works of Edred so that I would not have to, but I see that I am wrong... Ahem!

Probably the main source of resistance to this book is the fact that it demands a great deal out of the reader. Edred makes no secret out of the fact that this book is meant to be read in concert with other rune books (such as "The Runecaster's Handbook" or "The Nine Doors of Midgard") and almost seems to be an apology for the shortcomings of "Futhark" which (by the author's own admission) are many. However, what you will get in this book is something that you will probably not find anywhere else in the mainstream book world: an academic discussion not only of the history of the runes, but also their place in myth and magic (for those of you who do not know, Edred Thorsson has a PhD in Germanic languages in addition to founding his own initiatory Rune Gild). This book provides many valuable insights and important keys to the use of the runes, but it is not meant for the passer-by.

Thorsson easily escapes the major trap that most "Pagan Revivalists" fall into in regards to ancient religion, that of not knowing jack squat about the subject. Runelore provides a much more historically based arguement for the cultic use of runes than any other work currently available. There is ample historical backing to his other arguements, and they are concise and clearly presented. Thorsson is well beyond the "Blank Rune" or "Celtic Rune" level that other "Runesters" wallow in, though his Ogham book perhaps stretched it a bit. In this book, Thorsson may have carried his Odhinn centered tendencies a bit too far, even going contrary to the evidence in declaring Loki, Baldr, and Heimdal to be hypostases of Odhinn. However, Runelore should be interesting even to Teutonic Historians, as Thorsson can safely speculate beyond the limits of scholarly propriety, and therefore show us how the ancient Germans may have actually percieved the Universe

I'm truly amazed how good this book is. It's very intriguing and addictive and at the same time there's alot of history. Even my 11 and 8 year-old love hearing me read the book to them and they actually take interest in the story and r full of questions about it.

The Forgotten Men of Bataan. A great story taken from the secrete diary of Joseph Bandoni, who survived the Bataan Death March only to spent the next years of his life as a prisoner of war. The book tells the story of how these prisoners lived, and their daily battle to stay alive not knowing when or if US troops would arrive in time to save them from the horrors of what was their existence. The book holds your interest and pushes you forward to discover the fate of these soldiers.
